try something new tuesday...

I can't remember the name of this wrap, but it had ham, eggs, and cheese with a side of salsa! Delicious!

ADVENTURE!!

That's one of the words that keeps coming up for me this year.I have had quite a few travelling adventures already in 2014 and I am always looking for the next one!

One of the things that I LOVE about travelling is the thrill of eating, shopping, and wandering in new, locally owned places. I try to never eat in a chain unless it is a local chain that I could only find there. (Ex: The Egg and I in Fort Collins, CO. I fell in love and couldn't believe my luck when one opened up just minutes from my house!) Wherever I go, I am always asking and searching for the most interesting places to try.

I recently had a conversation with a friend at work who grew up in Dallas and was living in Orlando for the year. I had just gotten back from exploring in his city and was telling him all the places I went. He hadn't heard of most of them. Then he told me all the places he had been trying in Orlando. Guess what? I had only been to a few. It struck me then what a shame that I am missing out on adventure right here in my my own City Beautiful.

Tonight, I was looking for a place to sit and eat while I waited for Baby Girl to get done at youth group. Figured I would just go the my regular Starbucks, but then had the idea to explore a place so close to the church that I can't believe I had never been.
Borrowed from their Facebook because I forgot to take a pic there!
The Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar is located at 444 N Bumby Ave in Orlando. (http://www.drunkenmonkeycoffee.com/) The seating is comforatble, the food is delicious, there is an art wall featuring local artists, and my iced tea was served in a jar. (I have a thing for drinking out of jars...don't judge) There were books that could be read there or taken, board games, and I hear they have comedy night some Fridays.

I couldn't be happier with my choice to try a new place. I am so looking forward to going back and working my way through the coffee, chai, and other tea selections. (Yes, tea lovers! They aren't just coffee people...the teas are wonderful!)

I have just gotten done stalking a bunch of other local cafes on Facebook and i am plotting my route to try all of them.

What about you? Have you found the local treasures in your town? Share them with me...especially if you are local! Even if you aren't, I may come crash your town sometime soon and will need a good cup of coffee :)

I'm excited to share some more local finds in the coming weeks...stay tuned for my trip to the Art Angels Market and more!

peace, love, and local adventure,
chrissy :)

    2. Yes ma'am! I would love that and me too :) I saw you on stage when I snuck in the theater the other night to put some stuff away (can't wait for July!) and figured that may not be the most appropriate of times to shout hello haha. Hope you have a beautiful Sunday!!
